The Oobagooma Project is located 75km north east of Derby in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia on freehold land owned by the Commonwealth and used by the military. Between 1983 and 1988, it was explored by Afmeco (a wholly owned subsidiary of the French giant Cogema) and a sizeable uranium resource was identified. Paladin Resources, who bought the deposit in 1998 at the same time as they purchased Manyingee, believe the deposit is suitable for the In-Situ Leach mining process. While Paladin is putting more effort into developing Manyingee at this stage, Oobagooma is probably their number two prospect. Acclaim also hold a number of tenements in this area. |
