Minutes of the meeting setting up STAND, 21/08/99

Venue: Edith Cowan University

Meeting openned at 7:45pm

Present: 17 people with scientific backgrounds.

A committee of 4 people was formed

Grant Keady agreed to act as Secretary.

The name settled upon was
 "Scientists and Technologists Against Nuclear Dumping"

The goals as recorded elsewhere on Web were agreed.

The annual membership fees were set at
 $25
 and $15 concessional/student

It was agreed that we would incorporate, and the secretary
agreed to get a Constitution, etc. ready.

It was agreed that a more formal launch should take place.
By having the proposed constitution on Web before the launch
we might be able to arrange that the "Setting up the Society" part
of the Consititution agrees with what is done to set it up.
Intending members will be able to read the constitution and
accept it at the launch.

Dates for a possible launch were discussed.
It was hoped that this would take place before the end
of October. No definite conclusion was reached. Perhaps
at the Fremantle ESA Conference, 26 Sept-1 Oct

were discussed.
