Jabiluka Action, Perth - FRIDAY APRIL 27, 2001

RIO TINTO'S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING IS BEING HELD IN SYDNEY ON FRIDAY APRIL 27, 2001

BE THERE IN SPIRIT THIS FRIDAY 7.30 - 9.30 am (bring your brekkie)
STEPS OF CENTRAL PARK (St. Georges Tce, 3rd building west of William St)

Jabiluka is back in the news again and significant progress has been made: Rio Tinto has offered to put the mining of Jabiluka on hold for 10 years. It is a surprising admission of how uneconomical the mine would be for Rio but it does not go far enough. Rio Tinto must be persuaded to hand the lease back to the Mirrar People and clean up the mess made by ERA at the site, rather than give vague promises about no mining for the next few years.

We will be collecting signatures to this effect this Friday 27 April, 7.30-9.30 am (to coincide with Rio's AGM in Sydney)
Rio/Hamersley Iron are at Central Park, (152-158 St Geo Tce)

Bring banners, interesting costumes and noise-making devices...

Please spread the word to folks you know don't have email access or who only check their 'hot' mail once in a blue moon.

Cheers!! (for the Mirrar who've held up the works so long and now deserve to have the threat of u-mining lifted forever from their land)

Brenda, Jo, Rob, Scott
